Rio de Janeiro-born and São Paulo-based friends Helena Sicupira and Mariana Prates share not only the change of zip code and a career in fashion but also an affinity that involves, besides memories of growing up in the same city, passion for Brazilian modernist architecture, art and design.
Mariana was born in 1976 in the neighborhood of Jardim Botânico and Helena in 1983 in Arpoador; Mariana studied journalism in Brazil and Helena studied industrial design in Brazil and graduated from Studio Berçot in Paris. Some years ago, they discovered that they also shared a love for jewelry, and from their mutual aesthetic references and the desire to create a new kind of old luxury they decided to launch their own jewelry brand.
After more than a year of investigating ideas and working on the project, PRASI was born in March 2019. Its debut collection was presented in a showroom set up by the duo in Paris. Their mission from the beginning was to incorporate the designers' heritage of their home country into their creations.
The philosophy underpinning the conception of the brand was inspired by individual artists who paved the way to modern art and architecture by creating timeless work.
